During a recent interview with the New York Post, Eric Bischoff commented on WWE’s new SmackDown! Live deal with FOX and more. You can check out some highlights from the interview below:

On his “83 Weeks” podcast: “[Co-host Conrad Thompson will] ask a question in three or four different ways much like a prosecuting attorney would. I often feel like I’m sitting on a witness stand being cross-examined, but that’s what makes the show entertaining and interesting.”

On WCW having influence on today’s product: “I think what is most important is the methods, the techniques, the package, the strategies I used to build the WCW franchise. And I think people recognize [them], some of the coolest stuff out there that had even been done and maybe in some cases still to this day.”

On smaller companies finding audiences on YouTube and Facebook: “You no longer have to have a big record label behind you and have to kowtow to the politics that enabled you to get there. You can be a phenomenal artist and put your stuff out there on YouTube and find yourself becoming a star.”

On why WWE’s deal with the FOX Network is bad for the pro wrestling industry:“Anybody who comes along and wants to sell a wrestling show, guess who you are not gonna sell it to? You are not going to sell it to FOX and any of its affiliates and, oh by the way, you are not going to sell it to NBC Universal or any of its affiliates. So the world in terms of one’s ability to sell a traditional [wrestling] television show to a traditional television or broadcast partner has just collapsed.”
